YHP7 Swizzle Testimony #1
From Richard Ruiz, 12/1/04
"PS I will also be getting rid of all my fiberglass boards!"
Chuck
I
just wanted to let you know that the 8'0 board has been a very pleasant
surprise. Not in the last few days, but in the last month I have gotten
some really good waves with this board. I take it out in the steeper
waves, instead of my 9' 0" and 9' 6"
Swizzles, and have had very
good experience in waves that are not as suitable for a longer board. I
have been using a 5 1/2" fairly flexible fin all the way forward in the
fin box. This may be a little small as I have side slipped the tail out
on a few waves, but I have not yet wanted to put the 6" and 6 1/2" fins
back in to try again. Once you get moving in a steep wave those
bodyboard rails hold tight!
The 8'0 gives me a quicker steeper
drop than the longer boards. At the same time it paddles easily and
gets into the wave early. It is comfortable and safer than my shorter
fiberglass boards. I should point out that the safety of the board does
allow and encourage me to take off on waves that I would probably not
consider when on my fiberglass boards. In this regard it enables me to
take greater risk.
I feel the board is ready to recommend for purchase by others. I will also be getting rid of all my fiberglass boards!
Thanks,
Richard Ruiz

"
. . . most advanced concepts out there, long or short. Not only
different but better! Thanks to Tom for continuing to innovate! "
Chuck,
Since
getting my 8'0" YHP7 Swizzle, it's the only board I have been riding.
It catches waves much easier than my 7' trifin, yet it is more fun to
ride in the waves in my area (2-6 ft beach break). I've put the fin all
the way back in the box for tighter turns and a looser feel. This makes
the board much quicker and more responsive than I expected from an 8
foot board. The afterburner rails hold tight when turning and yet
release to give bursts of speed when I'm on the nose. The thing I like
best about this board is the speed and manuverability from the forward
trim position. The parabolic outline fits into the wave really well and
yet I can climb and drop around sections with ease. The soft deck and
rails are nice features, but I bought it because of the advanced rail,
bottom, outline shape and nose. This board is one of the most advanced
concepts out there, long or short. Not only different but better!
Thanks to Tom for continuing to innovate!

"The
new Swizzle paddles great. With the new upturned nose late take-offs
with verticle drops pose no concern, guys were hooting................."
Hey Chuck,
"Well
yesterday 7-8 foot faced peaks were gliding into WindanSea reefs and
your man on my new 9' 0" Swizzle waz there mixing it up with all the
boys on the outside.
az the guy on the "sponger" ripped.
Because of itz lightness, the board reacts in an instant and holds itz
line in the biggest barrel. I never felt it slip.
"I love my new
Swizzle! Kudoe's to everyone! You are on track with a winning quivver!
I will always try to get one of the pro's to try mine. Itz changing the
masses mind-set thatz crucial. I had guys paddle by me asking what kind
of board I had now. One guy rached out and after grabbing the nose
exclamed "sponger!?" with a mild show of discust. After a few verticle
take-offs and nice carving walls the fellow couldn't believe whut I was
doing on this soft board . . .
". . . You guys now have some very beautiful and functional boards...!
"Thanks sooooo much for Taylors new board, she loves it, an I absolutely LOVE mine too!

From Bob Simms, April 30, 2005 Paniau, Big Island, Hawaii; 9' 6" Swizzle
"The lightness of the swizzle made it so easy, that cut backs and nose rides were able
to be done on almost every wave.
"Hi Tom,
Finally after it seems like weeks a swell appeared down on the
coast today . Paniau was head high and pretty clean , Luke and I
went down and had a fun session from 9 to noon . The board works
great , I got so many waves it was almost unfair to the other guys
in the water, the tide was high so I was able to ride to the beach
and was really stoked with the boards performance. I am giving it a very high rating in the
waves that were ridden today. A+ . The swell should continue
tomorrow and hope to get a early morning session. The fin you sent
works great but will probably try as many different fins as
possible to explore the boards potential.

Hi Chuck,
Just a follow up. Got out in a 3-5' swell today here in Maine, and was
very stoked over the performance of the swizzle in those conditions.
The board works as advertised. Its fast, maneuverable,
forgiving-releases easily, yet holds the line, allows late takeoffs,
paddles and catches the waves easily and was generally a blast! Teg Glendon

"Been surfing with the Swizzle for a couple of weeks now.Wow! never experienced this kind of comfort before! Sooo easy on the
bony parts!!! I absolutely LOVE this board!! It paddles so easy, all I
have to do is think "take off" and I'm on the wave and going! The
Swizzle is easy to turn, those rails in the back make the board feel
like it's got side bites. Hard bottom turns, top turns, cutbacks, all
no problem!!! The Swizzle is also very stable, walking to the nose is
like walking on the sidewalk! Great down the line speed and carry
through the flats! What more could you want? .......Durability!, and
this board got in spades! This thing takes thumps and bumps that would
put a poly or an epoxy board in the shop for months!! Thanks for
listening to my rave! And Thanks again for being so friendly and
helpful!!!

Chuck, I want to thank you for taking the time and effort to make my board fit
me...I'm having a lot of fun again...I'm catching twice as many waves and I am
able to be more agressive because I'm not worried about the board...I'm actually
out paddling many of the young guys..and I've got the aloha spirit back...
Thank you also to you and Y (Tom) for being so encouraging...I have not met to
many people in my life who have been as genuine, helpful and friendly as you
guys..
Thanks again for being who you are...
Your Surfing bro,
Ken:)
Kahuna (nick name for Chuck Herpick, Tom Morey's partner) lent me a brand new prototype Y board (softshell board) today.
A
6' swallow tail single fin with inverted rear rails. Took it out at
Whitemans in 2-3' hightide shore pound. The thing worked insane. Held
a
tight line and generated plenty of speed. Got a ton of little
closeout
barrels on the thing. Can't believe that little six footer
can float my
240lbs. Super fun. Looking forward to a repeat tomorrow
AM. I encourage any
who surfs to look up Kahuna and check one out.
